Sacramento Adventures

There were so many things that we wanted to do and see while we were in California but between my internship and my online class we didn't get around to very many of them. A couple weeks before we left we decided that we needed to make sure we did some of the stuff on our list so we planned a packed weekend of fun. On Friday, Curtis picked me up from my internship and we headed down to the Jelly Belly factory which was about an hour away. I had been there with my family about 10 years ago when my mom lived in Sacramento and it was a lot of fun so I told Curtis that that was one thing we didn't want to miss. We took a tour of the factory and learned all about the history behind and making of Jelly Belly's. After the tour they give you a bag of jelly beans and then send you off to the Jelly Belly factory store. Curtis and I ended up buying 12 pounds of Jelly Beans and some awesome Jelly Belly socks. Yes, you read that right 12 pounds! Why so many Jelly Belly's you ask? Because they make these excellent 2 pound bags of what they call "belly flops", which are the beans that didn't turn out quite right in the production process. They sell them for way cheaper then the "perfect" beans and they had them on sale, buy 3 bags- get 3 free. These bags were my family's favorite part about going to the factory last time so we ended up getting 6 bags so we could share with everyone when we headed back to Utah.


After leaving the Jelly Belly factory, we headed another hour south to see my grandma and her new house. My grandma's house burnt down a few years ago and they had a new house built on the same lot this past year. It was fun to go down and see my grandma and spend the night visiting with her. Her back yard has the delta running through it and it was always fun as kids to go visit and go out on the boat. We would climb the ladder up to the top of the boat house and jump off into the river below. Looking at the water now, there is no way you could pay me to jump into it but it was fun as a kid. Saturday morning we left my grandmas house and head back towards Sacramento to go to the zoo. Curtis and I LOVE going to the zoo and we heard that Sacramento had a zoo so we decided to check it out. It was a pretty fun little zoo and it was the perfect weather that day. Here are a couple of pictures from the zoo:
